Cookie Policy
This site uses two analytics tools — Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics — to see how people use the map and guides so we can find and fix problems. We don't run any advertising on this site, and we don't sell or share data with anyone else.
Do you set cookies straight away?
No. Nothing is set until you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you click Decline, or simply don't respond, Clarity still runs but doesn't set a cookie, and Google Analytics is held in "consent denied" mode — it sets no cookies and each page you view is treated as a separate, anonymous visit rather than being linked together into one session.
What gets set if you click Accept?
Microsoft Clarity:
- — remembers your browser across visits, so Clarity can tell a returning visitor from a new one. Lasts about 1 year.
- — links the pages you view together into a single session, so we can see one visit's journey through the site rather than disconnected pageviews. Lasts about 1 day.
Google Analytics:
- — tells a returning visitor from a new one. Lasts about 2 years.
- — keeps track of the current session. Lasts about 2 years.
Each tool may also set a small number of other first-party cookies needed to operate the service. We don't use any advertising cookies — Clarity is told not to share anything for ad purposes, and Google Analytics runs with ad storage, ad personalisation and IP-based advertising features switched off.
What do these tools actually record?
Microsoft Clarity:
- Mouse movements, taps, scrolling and page navigation — used to build heatmaps and session recordings
- Which pages you visit and roughly when
- General location (from your IP address, used briefly for that and not stored) and your device/browser type
Google Analytics:
- Which pages you visit, when, and how you move between them
- Approximate location (country / region, from a truncated IP address), and your device, browser and screen size
- How you arrived at the site (for example a search engine or a direct link)
Neither tool collects your name or email. Clarity automatically masks anything typed into form fields before it's ever stored.
Who processes this data?
Microsoft Clarity is provided by Microsoft, free of charge, and processed under Microsoft's own privacy terms. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement for their full policy.
Google Analytics is provided by Google, free of charge, and processed under Google's own privacy terms. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Changing your mind
Your choice is remembered on this device only, via your browser's local storage — not shared anywhere. To see the banner again and choose differently, clear your browser's cookies and site data for northberwickparking.com, then reload the page.
